On April 27th, 650 Medical Alley members met for MAA's premier annual gathering. The Annual Meeting is an opportunity to reconnect with the colleagues and industry leaders that make Medical Alley the global epicenter of health technology and care. Members were able to celebrate Medical Alley's leadership, innovation and impact on improving and saving lives.
We delivered insights into the current state of Medical Alley, outlined projections for 2017 and provided great content and comradery. Medical Alley IS powering the evolution of healthcare.
This year's featured speaker was Mike Guyette, who serves as President and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, the state's largest health plan, serving 2.6 million members, with a full scope of health plan products and services. Mike sat down with Medical Alley President & CEO Shaye Mandle for a “Fireside Chat."

Mike Guyette, President & CEO, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota
Mike Guyette serves as President and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, the state's largest health plan, serving 2.6 million members, with a full scope of health plan products and services. Blue Cross and Blue Shield continues to impact the future of healthcare with innovation initiatives, including the newly created Stella brand. Mike will sit down with Medical Alley President & CEO Shaye Mandle for a “Fireside Chat” at Medical Alley’s Annual Meeting. Don’t miss it!

Dr. Susan Alpert, Principal, SFA Consulting, LLC
Susan Alpert, Ph.D., M.D. is currently the principle of SFA Regulatory, LLC, a one person firm focused on the strategies needed to place medical devices and other medical products into the global market. She was a Corporate Senior Vice President for Global Regulatory at Medtronic, Inc. and prior to that VP Regulatory Science at C.R. Bard, Inc. She previously worked at the US FDA where she held a variety of management positions in the Centers dealing with drugs, devices and radiological health, and foods. She was Director of the Office of Device Evaluation from 1993-1999. She completed her undergraduate degree at Barnard College, Columbia University in New York City, and is a Pediatric Infectious Disease clinician with a PhD in Medical Microbiology from NYU and an MD from the University of Miami,who has practical experience in laboratory research and clinical trials.
Mike McBride, VP, Partner Relations, Upsher-Smith Laboratories
As VP, Partner Relations, Mike McBride leads the company’s efforts to grow its relationships across key customers, suppliers and business partners. His responsibilities include establishing and growing relationships with chain, wholesale and other targeted business partners; and increasing the value of targeted business partnerships to support the company’s new product development and acquisition objectives.
During his more than 25-year tenure at Upsher-Smith, as the company added brand pharmaceutical products to its generic portfolio of products, Mike helped launch and establish new Consumer Products, Managed Markets and Institutional sales teams and shaped the vision for the company’s Partner Relations efforts.
While at Upsher-Smith, Mike has helped launch and grow diverse specialty product lines including numerous consumer brands.
Mike holds a B.A. in Mass Communications from the University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse.
Dr. Eddie Moradian, CEO, MD Biosciences & Founder, Incubology
Eddie Moradian received his PhD in biotechnology from the Swiss Federal Institute in Zurich, Switzerland. Since 1987, he has been a founder or co-founder of over 25 companies in the biotechnological, pharmaceutical and diagnostic spaces with presence in Europe, US and Israel.
At MD Biosciences, he leads a group of privately-owned and self-funded companies, each individually focused on drug development, preclinical contract research services, CLIA clinical biomarker diagnostic services, and early stage investment in other promising, emerging companies.
Most recently, Eddie Moradian was a co-founder of and is serving as co-CEO of Incubology, LLC, a state of the art multi-technological incubator facility with turn-key ready laboratory and high tech space located in Oakdale, MN.

Lonny Stormo, CEO, POPS! Diabetes Care, Inc.
Lonny Stormo is CEO, and co-founder of POPS! Diabetes Care, and he has diabetes. After a thirty year career at Medtronic—the last eleven years in Vice-President roles—Lonny resigned his position to lead POPS! Diabetes Care. Lonny led the Medtronic Therapy Delivery business, and has been part of three business GM staffs. Significant portions of Lonny’s career include technical sales, leading development teams through regulatory approval, and working with products that include connectivity of data. Lonny holds a BSEE degree from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and an MBA from Arizona State University.
