Research

Research projects such as our tested community engagement process, MACCIM, involves Alley Institute as a primary investigator. We have also applied for two public health and health industry investigation grants, in cooperation with other investigators, serving as both administrator and co-investigator. The Minnesota Palliative Care partnership, administered through Alley Institute, has gained significant ground in 2006 in its efforts to define a care model and a finance model. The Partnership and Alley Institute are working with a large self-insured organization to provide a palliative care benefit for their employees. The Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement will issue its set of Palliative Care guidelines in January. Combining these elements — consumer demand and provider acceptance — the implementation of palliative care services and coverage will be expedited.
